The Daily Dose Of God November 27

Memory Verse; The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.  Deuteronomy 29:29

1 Peter 1:13-2:10  Psalms138

The debt was so great, that while man alone owed it, only God could pay it. (Anslem)

Father, Your word instructs me, to be joyful, patient, and faithful in prayer.  Therefore I will rejoice in you, and I will pray. Patience may be harder, Lord. Each day is like another twenty-mile walk through the desert. When will this season in my life end, Lord?  When, will times of refreshing come again? I thirst for real joy, O , God. I thirst for You.  Though the road ahead is obscured, I will still offer up to you my praise to You. Father, I pray to You.  I rejoice in You. And I will be patient. Amen

Memory Verse; The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.  Deuteronomy 29:29

1 Peter 1:1-12  Psalms137

My Shepherd will supply my need;

Jehovah is His Name;

In pastures fresh He makes me feed

Beside the living stream.

He brings my wand’ring spirit back

When I forsake His ways,

And leads me, for His mercy’s sake,

In paths of truth and grace.

(Isaac Watts)

Our Gracious God, to bless Your Name is to kneel before You in adoration and praise, and confess our trust in Your power, faithfulness, and goodness. Blessed be Your Name.

Whether we are surrounded by friends, or have few to none, Christ is a friend that sticks closer than a brother: blessed be Your Name.

Whether we have abundant food and clothing, or struggle to makes ends meet, or else suffer need, You are the Lord our Provider and sufficient for all our need: blessed be Your Name.

Whether we are in good health and well, or live with daily pains, or survive injury, or face life threatening diagnoses, You are the Great Physician and the health of our very souls: blessed be Your Name.

Whether our lives are at peace with others, or we contend with challenging relationships, or we stand in need to forgive or be forgiven, or we are wounded by violence done to body or soul, Christ is our Peace, our Refuge and our Defender: blessed be Your Name.

Whether in times of delight and celebration or grief and sorrow; whether our hearts are light or heavy; whether we greet unexpected joy or are met with sudden heartbreak, You do not leave. You will not forsake. Your steadfast love endures forever: blessed be Your Name. Amen. (Adah Hutchcraft)

Memory Verse; The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.  Deuteronomy 29:29

James 4:13-5  Psalms136

Thou that hast given so much to me,

Give one thing more–a grateful heart. . . .

Not thankful, when it pleaseth me;

As if thy blessings had spare days;

But such a heart, whose pulse may be

Thy praise.  (George Herbert)

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, my deliver is coming. You have heard and joined the world's sorrow and longing for deliverance. Redemption is coming from your own scars. Help me to doubt my feelings, but to never doubt your promises. Help me to question what I see, and to have certainty in Your coming. Amen (From lyrics to My deliver by Rich Mullins) (REM)

Memory Verse; The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.  Deuteronomy 29:29

James 3-4:12 Psalms135

Forgive and give as if it were your last opportunity. Love like there's no tomorrow, and if tomorrow comes, love again. Max Lucado

Our Gracious God, While struggles of health impact us, we thank You for what help and health You give. We miss the presence of many, and likewise thank You for all those we are blessed to still hold. When we sorrow with great loss, we take solace in friendships and most of all, Your blessing. As we mourn with others whose pain touches our souls, we are also consoled by Your promise of comfort. We will take refuge, not in easy answers or trite replies, only the depth of Christ's provision,  and the truth and eternal hope given through the power of His cross. He knows our sorrow, and He ministers joy, which is our strength. In the Name of Christ, Amen.  (Adah Hutchcraft)

Memory Verse; The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.  Deuteronomy 29:29

James 1:19-2 Psalms134

If love is the soul of Christian existence, it must be at the heart of every other Christian virtue. Thus, for example, justice without love is legalism; faith without love is ideology; hope without love is self-centeredness; forgiveness without love is self-abasement; fortitude without love is recklessness; generosity without love is extravagance; care without love is mere duty; fidelity without love is servitude. Every virtue is an expression of love. No virtue is really a virtue unless it is permeated, or informed, by love.

(Fr Richard Rohr)

Jesus, please remember us, and that will strengthen us to turn again to you, to choose life, to work for justice and peace, to practice hospitality, to love our neighbors, and to trust that you will strengthen and equip us for the task. Thanks be to God. Amen. (CommonPrayer.net)

Memory Verse; The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.  Deuteronomy 29:29

James 1:1-18 Psalms133

The more conscious we are of our own inability to get it right, perhaps even our own flagrant disloyalty to the call to live as genuine human beings, the more we will hear this call as what it most deeply is. It is the offer of forgiveness. It is the summons to receive God’s gift of a slate wiped clean, a totally new start. Even to glimpse that is to catch your breath with awe and gratitude and to find an answering, thankful love welling up inside. N.T. Wright

My sweet Lord, look with mercy upon your -people and especially upon the mystical body of your church. It would be no consolation for me to enjoy your life if your holy -people stood in death. For I see that sin darkens the life of your bride the church my sin and the sins of others. (Catherine of Siena)
