Catch-up day. Psalms 2

Maturity is learning how to start when you feel like procrastinating and learning how to listen when you feel like talking. James Clear

Lord, it is hard to live by your patience. Your timing is not our timing, and your ways are not our ways. Keep us from trying to rush peace, and prepare us for the peace that comes only by sacrifice and discipline. Amen. (Commonprayer.net)

Daily Dose For January 5

Memory Verse; The Word became flesh and made his dwelling  among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 NIV

Isaiah 62-63:6 Proverbs 30

“Trying to solved man's problems by giving him more power is like trying to tame the wolf by letting it play with the lamb.” Swenson, Richard A. Margin. NavPress, 1992. P.g. 33

Our Gracious God,

In our joy and our pain

You remain faithful.

Through Your mercies

we were not consumed.

Your compassions never failed us.

You are good to those who wait for You,

and to the soul who seeks You.

Give us fresh hope

for the upcoming year,

and the strength to persevere through trials.

You give to each one

the stewardship of time.

Teach us to manage well

the time we are given,

that in everything we

may exemplify Your faithfulness,

generosity, wisdom, strength, and mercy.

Give us the will and the wisdom

to refrain from all that

blinds us from seeing You,

obscures Your voice,

and competes with our love for You.

In purifying our hearts,

sanctify even the mundane

activities of life which are

carried out by necessity.

We never must leave Your presence.

We dedicate ourselves to You afresh.

May we humbly embrace forgiveness

for that which You have cleansed.

Renew a right spirit in us as we

continue to rely upon Your faithfulness.

In the Name of Christ, amen.  (Adah Hutchcraft)

Isaiah 60-61 Proverbs 29

“When it comes to faith, what a living, creative, active, powerful thing it is. It cannot do other than good at all times. It never waits to ask whether there is some good work to do, rather, before the question is raised, it has done the deed, and keeps on doing it.” Martin Luther

Lord, from Martin Luther in sixteenth-century Germany to Martin Luther King Jr. in twentieth-century Alabama, your disciples have witnessed to a law that is higher than the laws of human institutions. Make us such witnesses, Lord. Amen (Commonprayer.net)

Daily Dose For January 3

Memory Verse; The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 NIV

Isaiah 58-59 Proverbs 28

"I do not advise that we end the year on a somber note. The march, not the dirge, has ever been the music of Christianity. If we are good students in the school of life, there is much that the years have to teach us. But the Christian is more than a student, more than a philosopher. He is a believer, and the object of his faith makes the difference, the mighty difference. Of all persons the Christian should be best prepared for whatever the New Year brings. He has dealt with life at its source. In Christ he has disposed of a thousand enemies that other men must face alone and unprepared. He can face his tomorrow cheerful and unafraid because yesterday he turned his feet into the ways of peace and today he lives in God. The man who has made God his dwelling place will always have a safe habitation." A.W. Tozer

Lord, you are always weaving the things of heaven with the things of earth. You dwell among us, above us, and within us. Make us expectant of angels tarrying to do your work. Form us into eager messengers, ready to speak peace in broken communities. Amen.  (Commonprayer.net)
