Daily Dose For November 14

Memory Verse; Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31

Eccl. 4  Psalms 132

"Why do so many of us feel like air-traffic controllers out of control?  How can the salesman feel so stressed the car is loaded with extras, the paycheck is bigger than ever, and vacation lasts four weeks a year?  How is it possible that the homemaker is still tired despite the help of the washing machine, clothes dryer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and the vacuum cleaner?  If we are so prosperous, why are the therapists' office so full?  If we have ten times more material abundance than our ancestors, why are we not ten times more content and fulfilled?" Swenson, Richard A. Margin. Colorado Spring, Co: NavPress, 1992.

Be still and know that I am God. Lord, may your spirit guide me

I find rest and refreshment from this busy world.(Sacredspace.ie)

Daily Dose For November 13

Memory Verse; Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31

Eccl. 3  Psalms 131

"Margin, on the other hand, is having breath left at the top of the staircase, money left at the end of the month, and sanity left at the end of adolescence.

Marginless is the baby crying and the phone ringing at the same time; margin is Grandma taking the Baby for the afternoon.

Marginless is being asked to carry a load five pounds heavier than you can lift; margin is a friend to carry half the burden.  Marginless is not having time to finish the book you're reading on stress; margin is having the time to read it twice.

Marginless is fatigue; margin is energy.

Marginless is red ink; margin is black ink.

Marginless is hurry; margin is calm.

Marginless is anxiety; margin is security.

Marginless is culture; margin is counterculture.

Marginless is the disease of the 1990's.

Margin is the cure." Swenson, Richard A. Margin. Colorado Spring, Co: NavPress, 1992.

Lord, we are slow to come to our senses. Often our feeble offerings are merely extensions of our sin. Quicken your Spirit within us and move us to offer up that which is pleasing to you: justice, kindness, and humility of heart. Amen.(Commonprayer.net)

Daily Dose For November 8

Memory Verse; Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31

Job 42:7-17    Psalms 126

Contentment isn't the complacency that defeats any attempts to make things better, but instead the willingness to work tirelessly for improvement, clinging to God rather than results.  It isn't a feeling of well-being contingent on circumstances under control, but instead a joy that exists in spite of circumstances and looks to the God who never varies. It isn't the comfortable feeling we get when all our needs and desires are met, but instead the security in knowing as A.W. Tozer reminds us, "The man who has God for his treasure has all things in One.  A Minute of Margin Richard A. Swenson, M.D. reflection 172

Lord, if we are to be afraid of anything, let it be the fear of not committing ourselves fully to you. Let us fear that the day will pass without our having lightened the load of another. Let us fear that someone will come looking for you and find only us. Amen.
