The Daily Dose Of God December 11

Memory Verse; But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,  to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Galatians 4:4,5

3 John Proverbs 3-4

I’ll be so glad when all our goodbyes are over. When all our tears are dried. When all our broken hearts are mended. When all death and sickness die. I guess this is where Advent begins. Right in the pain of, Come quickly, Lord. It hurts down here."

(Beth Moore on Twitter, 11/28/2021)

Jesus, this day we pray for comfort that can only come from You. Countless prayers are spoken for illnesses, poverty, crime, and countless hits upon the world.  We do not cease, Jesus in praying.  At times our focus remains on the subject of prayer. Sometimes we grow weary with the issue.  It is at these times that we turn our focus back onto  Who we are praying to.  The things happening to ourselves and others is very hard not to see or feel, but we can't remain focused on that. The enemy places the focus on the subject and not the answer. You truly hear our prayers and You truly answer. So, this day Jesus, we pray that You are the ENTIRE focus and yes, we will receive strength and endurance and a full force of praise and praying to you! You hear all! You answer all! Amen (Prayers Cross)

I want a Christmas that whispers Jesus.  Ann Voskamp

Gracious God,

Let less of me and more of You

be in all I do and say

so that more of me is more like You

increasingly with each new day.

Amen. (Adah Hutchcraft)

The Daily Dose Of God December 9

Memory Verse; But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Galatians 4:4,5

1 John 5 Psalms150

Nagging is a form of cynicism and hopelessness. Naggers nag because they don’t think true change is really coming. Advent is for naggers like you and me. Exhale. Change has come. Change is coming again. Duke Kwon

Lord, we do not always rush to do your will. Often we tiptoe our way into obedience, dragging old habits and mindsets with us. Help us to delight at your voice and to trust that your calling is always good news. Amen.  (commonprayer.net)

The Daily Dose Of God December 8

Memory Verse; But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Galatians 4:4,5

1 John 4 Psalms149

Nicholas of Myra (Fourth Century)

The original “Old St. Nick” who inspired the tradition of Santa Claus, Nicholas was bishop of Myra in fourth-century Turkey. Little is known about his life except that he entrusted himself to -Jesus at an early age and, when his parents died, gave all of their possessions to the poor. While serving as bishop, Nicholas learned of three girls who were going to be sold into slavery by their father. Moved to use the church’s wealth to ransom the lives of these little ones, he tossed three bags of gold through the family’s window. We recall this ancient Christmas gift, even as we remember that 1.2 million children are trafficked each year in the global sex trade today.

Lord -Jesus Christ, you welcomed the little children to come unto you and invited us to come like them. Help us see how we can welcome children as you have welcomed us into your body. Amen.  (commonprayer.net)

1 John 2:28-3 Psalms148

Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?” (Clarence  - George Bailey's guardian angel in "It's a Wonderful Life")

Lord, when we strive after healing in the world and nourishment for those who hunger, we find you at our side. Whenever we long to see your face, help us not to avoid the corners of our communities where you most often dwell. Stir our hearts that we might seek and find you today in those places where you have promised to be. Amen. (commonprayer.net)

1 John 2:3-27 Psalms147

“This is in essence what Satan tries to get us to do—to assert our will, our plan, our way against God’s plan and purpose for our lives.  Excerpt From: Sam Laing. “Warrior—A Call to Every Man Everywhere.” iBooks.

Let this fragrant tree, cut down and raised beneath our roof remind us how once upon a time, the High King of Heaven consented to be cut off from the glories that were his birthright, and descended instead to dwell with us in a broken world. The Daily Dose Of God December 5

Memory Verse; But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Galatians 4:4,5

1 John 1- 2:2 Psalms146

At its essence, pride overestimates itself and underestimates God. Excerpt From: Sam Laing. “Warrior—A Call to Every Man Everywhere.” iBooks.

May the sounds of Advent stir a longing in your people.  O, God.  Come again to set us free from the dullness of routine and the poverty of our imaginations.  Break the patterns which bind us to small commitments and to the stale answers we have given to questions of no importance.  Let the advent trumpet blow, let the walls of our defenses crumble, and make a place in our lives for the freshness of your love, well-lived in the Spirit, and still given to all who know their need and dare receive it.  Amen  (Howard Thurman)
