OTHERS

Snippet
A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.

Jackie Robinson

Scripture
I always thank my God when I pray for you, Philemon, because I

keep hearing about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for

all of God’s people. And I am praying that you will put into action

the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and

experience all the good things we have in Christ.  Your love has

given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness

has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people. Philemon 4-7 NLT

Song
No man is an Island
Tenth Avenue North

I won't run, I will stayI'm not leaving you!I know there's friction hereThe struggle makes us new.
I wish you never thought you had to go,
Wish you never thought you had to leave!
Together we can lift each other up,
We can build a shelter for the weak!
No man is an island, we can be found
No man is an island, let your guard down!
You don't have to fight me, I am for you
We're not meant to live this life alone!
Oh, oh, oh, oh!
I see fear in your eyes, there's no safety here
Oh, my friend, let me in, I will share your tears
I wish you never thought you had to go,
Wish you never thought you had to leave!
Together we can lift each other up,
We can build a shelter for the weak!
Oh, come on!
No man is an island, we can be found
No man is an island, let your guard down!
You don't have to fight me, I am for you
We're not meant to live this life alone!
Oh, oh, oh, oh!
Through trouble, rain, or fire
Let's reach out to something higher!
Ain't no life outside each other
(We are not alone!)
Through trouble, rain, or fire
Let's reach out to something higher
Eyes open to one another
(We are not alone!)
Through trouble, rain, or fire
Let's reach out to something higher!
Ain't no life outside each other
(We are not alone!)
Through trouble, rain, or fire
Let's reach out to something higher
Eyes open to one another
(We are not alone!)
No man is an island, we can be found
No man is an island, let your guard down!
You don't have to fight me, I am for you
We're not meant to live this life alone!
Oh, oh, oh, oh!
No man is alone!
Why you try to fight me?
We don't have to do it alone!
We don't have to do it alone!
We don't have to do it alone!

SENTENCE PRAYER
May our ancestors memories echo throughout eternity.
May our love live on in the hearts of those yet to be.

Eternal Hallelujahs to the maker of all noses!  Amen R.M.

YOU

Snippet
Prayer and the presence of God grow out of our understanding
that we are incompetent to deal with all that comes our way.
Soul Work Randy Harris pg 146 Leaf wood Publishers 2011 Abilene Texas
Scripture
“Now this is what the Lord says —
the One who created you, Jacob,
and the One who formed you, Israel  —
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name; you are Mine.
2 I will be with you
when you pass through the waters,
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not overwhelm you.
You will not be scorched
when you walk through the fire,
and the flame will not burn you.” Isaiah 43:1,2 HCSB
Song
You Carry me -Moriah Peters
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2H-zQjgurQ

Feels like it's been miles and miles
Feels like it's an uphill climb
Sometimes I get weary on the way
But when I look back at where I've been
When I look back, I'm sure of it
I was right there in Your arms and I can say

Every moment of my life
God, You never left my side
Every valley, every storm
You were there, You were there
I don't need to know what's next
You'll be with me every step
Through it all, through it all
I can see You carry me

There are days I wonder if
You can fix the mess I'm in
Times when nothing seems
To go the way it should
But then I look back on every season
I can find there's ten thousand reasons
To trust that You can work all things for good

Through the wind and waves
Through my worst mistakes
Through the times I thought I walked alone
You were holding me
You were whispering
I will never leave you on your own

Sentence Prayer

Lord, I exalt You! I praise Your name! You are my Rock, my

Savior, my Lord! You are unchangeable…immovable…an

unceasing lover of my soul. May the very rocks cry out in praise

of You and all You are.  May my lips offer continual praise to You

my mighty King. I give you praise and glory. You are worthy!

Hallelujah! Lord! (One Minute Prayers for Men, Harvest House Pub

WATER

Snippet
“Want to keep Christ in Christmas? Feed the hungry, clothe the
naked, forgive the guilty, welcome the unwanted, care for the ill,
love your enemies, and do unto others as you would have done
unto you.”
― Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience
Scripture
And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little
ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly
not lose their reward. Matthew 10:42

Christmas in Hollis

[Run]
It was December 24th on Hollis Ave in the dark
When I seen a man chilling with his dog in the park
I approached very slowly with my heart full of fear
Looked at his dog, oh my God, an ill reindeer
But then I was illin' because the man had a beard
And a bag full of goodies, 12 o'clock had neared
So I turned my head a second and the man had gone
But he left his driver's wallet smack dead on the lawn
I picket the wallet up then I took a pause
Took out the license and it cold said "Santa Claus"
A million dollars in it, cold hundreds of G's
Enough to buy a boat and matching car with ease
But I'd never steal from Santa, cause that ain't right
So I'm going home to mail it back to him that night
But when I got home I bugged, cause under the tree
Was a letter from Santa and all the dough was for me
[D.M.C.]
It's Christmas time in Hollis, Queens
Mom's cooking chicken and collard greens
Rice and stuffing, macaroni and cheese
And Santa put gifts under Christmas trees
Decorate the house with lights at night
Snow's on the ground, snow white so bright
In the fireplace is the yule log
Beneath the mistletoe as we drink eggnog
The rhymes you hear are the rhymes of Darryl's
But each and every year we bust Chrsitmas carols
(Christmas melodies)
[Run-D.M.C.]
Rhymes so loud and proud you hear it
It's Christmas time and we got the spirit
Jack Frost chillin', the orchas out?
And that's what Christmas is all about
The time is now, the place is here
And the whole wide world is filled with cheer
[D.M.C.]
My name's D.M.C. with the mic in my hand
And I'm chilling and coolin' just like a snowman
So open your eyes, lend us an ear
We want to say
Sentence Prayer
Lord, keep us from trying to distinguish between the deserving and the
undeserving poor.  Help us work to alleviate suffering and injustice

wherever we find it, trusting that the rest is up to you.  Amen R.M.

HOLIDAYS

Snippet
Sabbath Observance invites us to stop.  It invites us to rest.  It
asks us to notice that while we rest, the world continues without
or help.  It invites us to delight in the worlds beauty and
abundance.  Wendell Berry
Scripture

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy: 9 You are to labor

six days and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a

Sabbath to the Lord your God.” Exodus 20:8-10 HCSB

Song
Holiday Brit Nichole

Here I go 'round and 'round again
Venti Chai, you're my closest friend
Lack of sleep is what I do
Starbucks will rescue me again

Work, more work, and somewhere to be
Skip the talk, can't you just text me
I'm goin', slow down, I'm on it
I'm going crazy

[CHORUS]
'Cause when it's work all day
I cannot escape
I just stop to think, and I'm going crazy
Take a break, hey
Sometimes you got to
Be still and breathe, baby
Here we go, better believe we can up and leave
Take some time and kickback
I'm on chill and relax
Work can wait, yeah, time to play, yeah
I'm away on holiday
Take my time and kickback
I'm on chill and relax
Rock the beat, yeah, time to play, yeah
I'm away on holiday

Is this boy the one?
Are we meant to be?
What to wear?
Got to look pretty
Maybe I should go solo
Forget it, I'm ready to go where there's no
No more drama to mess up my flow
No more questions to answer, no
Pack my bags ya'll, I'm outtie
Flight leaves gate 17

[CHORUS]

Rock, rock the beat,
rock, rock the beat
Rock, rock the beat,
rock, rock the beat

No lap top bringing
Or cell phone ringing
You know the feeling
When hits you are singing
I'll kick back and enjoy
the sun on my face
The time of my life baby,
it's time to play
If you're ready for a holiday, holiday
Rock the beat, hands in the air
If you're ready for a holiday, holiday
Rock the beat, rock the beat, yeah

Take some time and kickback
I'm on chill and relax
Work can wait, yeah, time to play, yeah
I'm away on holiday
Take my time and kickback
I'm on chill and relax
Rock the beat, yeah, time to play, yeah
I'm away on holiday

Rock, rock the beat,
rock, rock
Rock, rock the beat,
rock, rock
Work can wait, yeah, time to play, yeah
I'm away on Holiday

Rock, rock the beat,
rock, rock
Rock, rock the beat,
rock, rock

Rock the beat, yeah, time to play, yeah
I'm away on Holiday

Sentence Prayer

Father;
Drop Thy still dews of quietness,
Till all my strivings cease;
Take from my soul the strain and stress,
And let my ordered life confess
The beauty of Thy peace.   Amen

GLORY

Snippet
We never pray against our government or call down curses on

them. Instead, we have learned that God is in control both of our

own lives and the government we live under. God has used

China's government for His own purposes, molding and

shaping His children as He sees fit. Instead of focusing our

prayers against any political system, we pray that regardless of

what happens to us, we will be pleasing to God.” ― Brother Yun,

The Heavenly Man: The Remarkable True Story of Chinese Christian Brother Yun

Scripture
To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Philippians 4:29

Song
Radical Disciple
http://youtu.be/93lGFvoucdg
Till the day I die
Till day I die
Till the day I die I'll be a Radical
It's easy too find one that will compromise
but it's not easy to find one that's willing to stand
But the road to hell is wide
but to haven it's one way it's one truth it's one life
That's why we're not ashamed of the name of Jesus
and we don't care if the whole world sees us
From our chains he has set us free
and I could never repay what he has given to me
I've been radically loved
I've been radically changed
By his grace I have been radically saved
and I'll live my life no other way
With my hart with my soul
Till the day I die I'll be a Radical
With my blood with my bones
It's easy to find someone that's willing to die
but it's not easy find someone that's willing to live
I want to walk in his footsteps even if the world hates me
ready to love and not afraid to forgive
Never ashamed of the name of Jesus
and yeah we want the whole world to see us
see He's burning in our harts
offering mercy with outstretched arms
Not just my mouth but let my hands speak the glory of God
Not just my mouth but let my hands speak the glory of God

SENTENCE PRAYER
Sometimes, Lord, it takes witnessing another person’s
commitment for us to realize our own lack of faith.  Open our
eyes to learn, even from strangers who inhabit other faith
traditions , what it means to be committed to you.  Amen

GIVE

Snippet
You may have heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

There's another day you might want to know about: Giving

Tuesday. The idea is pretty straightforward. On the Tuesday

after Thanksgiving, shoppers take a break from their gift-

buying and donate what they can to charity. Bill Gates

Scripture
“In every way I've shown you that by laboring like “this, it is necessary to

help the weak and to keep in mind the words of the Lord Jesus, for He said,

‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35 HCSB

Song
Give This Christmas Away Matthew West
http://youtu.be/9BVGkb5bxRY
What if I told you?
You have the power
To give someone hope
Far beyond their wildest dreams

What if I told you it’s right there in your hands?
In your hands

It's hard to imagine
How something so small
Can make all the difference
Tear down the tallest wall

What if December looked different this year?
What if we all just

Give this Christmas away
If there’s love in your heart
Don’t let it stay there
Give this Christmas away
And your life will be changed
By the gift you receive
When you give this Christmas away

It’s feeding the hungry
It’s serving the poor
It’s telling the orphan
You’re not forgotten anymore

It’s doing what love does
Even when no one’s watching you

Give this Christmas away
If there’s love in your heart
Don’t let it stay there
Give this Christmas away
And your life will be changed
By the gift you receive
When you give this Christmas away

For God so loved the world, He gave His only son
So we could be His hands, His feet, His love
His love

What if I told you?
You have the power
To give someone hope
Far beyond their wildest dreams

What if December looked different this year?
What if we all just

Give this Christmas away
If there’s love in your heart
Don’t let it stay there
Give this Christmas away
And your life will be changed
By the gift you receive
When you give this Christmas away
Give this Christmas away
You have the power
Just give it away
Give it away, give it away
Give it away, give it away
(Give it away)
(Give Christmas away)
Give it away

Sentence Prayer
Gracious God,
You have given us much today;
Grant us also a thankful spirit.
Into your hands we commend ourselves
And those we love.
Be with us still and when we take our rest
Renew us for the service of your son Jesus Christ.

Amen

NEW

SNIPPET
Happy are the simple followers of Jesus Christ who have been
overcome by his grace, and are able to sing the praises of the all
sufficient grace of Christ with humbleness of heart.  Dietrich
Bonhoeffer The Cost of Discipleship 60
SCRIPTURE
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The

old has gone, the new is here!  2 Corinthians 5:17

SONG
MADE NEW LINCOLN BREWSTER
http://youtu.be/jd4qtmDGIWQ
You're calling me over
You're pulling me close
With love You surround me
You give me hope

You're taking me deeper
You're making me whole
With grace You redeem me
You restore my soul

Now I'm made new
Because of You

You hold my head up
You remind me who I am
You hold my head up
I'm alive in You again
I'm made new

You're making me stronger
You're healing my heart
With Your hands You hold me
And You set me apart

You are my salvation
I will not fear
You're the strength of my life
I won't fear

Sentence Prayer

Holy God; we are rebellious sinners in Your eyes,

Your revealed word judges us so, and if we deny it

we call you a liar.  But Father in Your Grace

You gracefully gave your only begotten son Jesus,

to make us a new creation.  May, Your Holy Spirit

Remind us that the Grace of Jesus is enough to live this new life.

today and everyday!  Amen  R.M.
