All created beings are under the authority of what they fear. Thompson, Roger W. We Stood upon Stars: Finding God in Lost Places. WaterBrook, 2017.

Father in Heaven,

When You send relief and answer prayers, may our hearts not be content to silently receive and forget. We will joyfully and unashamedly praise You for Your goodness. We will not permit fear or distraction to rob us of Your joy. When You provide, let us not stop at being happy for happiness' sake. It is right to give You thanks. Troubles come and go, but You are always with us. You are attentive and generous, and You are working all things together for our good, so help us believe and not doubt. You are faithful! Deepen our love for You so we will quickly and boldly thank You for Your mercies as You give them. If mocked or challenged for giving honor to You in matters great or small, honor belongs to You nonetheless. We would not be drawn away from childlike dependence upon Christ. As we seek You in our distress, so may we bless You for answering our prayers. Let us declare Your tender mercies and mighty works together. Delight in us, Father. We delight in You. In the Name of Christ, amen. (Adah Hutchcraft)

Father in Heaven, Place us where You want us to be. Reveal to us what You want us to see. Give us what You want us to have.

Lead us where You want us to go. Teach us what You want us to understand. Strengthen us for what You want us to do. Release us from all that does not bind us to You. Knit our hearts to all that is of the Lord Jesus. In our waiting and in the fulfillment of Your promises, let Christ be glorified in Your vessels. Amen. (Adah Hutchcraft)

1 Chronicles 5-6  Psalms 37

“At some thoughts one stands perplexed, above all at the sight of human sin, and wonders whether to combat it by force or by humble love. Always decide ‘I will combat it by humble love.’ If you resolve on that once and for all, you can conquer the whole world. Loving humility is a terrible force: it is the strongest of all things, and there is nothing else like it.” Fyodor Dostoyevsky

God of love and Prince of Peace, give us courage in the face of trouble. Walk with us and give us a power that is not like that of chariots or armies. Arm us with grace. Make our tongues sharp with truth. Walk with us amid the principalities and powers of this dark world. Amen. (commonprayer.net)

A part of us feels as if something is spiritually wrong with us when we experience circumstantial uncertainty.  But that is precisely what Jesus promised us when we are born of the Spirit and start following him. Most of us will have no idea where we are going most of the time. But circumstantial uncertainty also goes by another name adventure.  Wild Goose Chase Mark Batterson Pg 2
