SHAKEN

Snippet

The most important thing about any one of us is not what we do but what God does, not what we do for God but what God does for us. Eugene Peterson Practice resurrection pg 80

Scripture

For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
My fortress; I shall never be shaken. Psalms 62:1,2 NRSV

This world has nothing for me
This life is not my own
I know You go before me and I am not alone
This mountain rises higher
The way seems so unclear
But I know that You go with me so I will never fear
I will trust in You
Whatever will come our way
Through fire or pouring rain
We won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
Whatever tomorrow brings
Together we'll rise and sing
That we won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
No we won't be shaken
You know my every longing
You've heard my every prayer
You've held me in my weakness
Cause You are always there
So I'll stand in full surrender
It's Your way and not my own
My mind is set on nothing less
Than You and You alone
I will not be moved oh
Whatever will come our way
Through fire or pouring rain
We won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
Whatever tomorrow brings
Together we'll rise and sing
That we won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
We will trust in You
We will not be moved
We will trust in You
And we won't be shaken
[x3]
No we won't be shaken
Whatever will come our way
Through fire or pouring rain
We won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
Whatever tomorrow brings
Together we'll rise and sing
That we won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
No we won't be shaken
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
No we won't be shaken

Sentence Prayer

Father,
You did not send Jesus to die on the cross
To make us safe
Jesus,
You died on the cross to make us dangerous.
Holy Spirit,
Empower and Equip us to wreak havoc on the enemy

Amen  R.M.

FAITHFUL

Snippet

“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”
J.R.R. Tolkien
Scripture

Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant
of David, according to my gospel, for which I suffer
hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word
of God is not imprisoned. For this reason I endure all things
for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may
obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it
eternal glory. It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died
with Him, we will also live with Him;If we endure, we will
also reign with Him;If we deny Him, He also will deny us;
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny
Himself 2 Timothy 2:8-13

When your only friends are hotel rooms
Hands are distant lullabies
If I could turn around I would tonight
These roads never seemed so long
Since your paper heart stopped beating leaving me
suddenly alone
Will daybreak ever come?
Who's gonna call on Sunday morning?
Who's gonna drive you home?
I just want one more chance
To put my arms in fragile hands
I thought you said forever
Over and over
A sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion
These thoughts run through my head
Over and over
Complaints of violins become my only friends
August evenings
Bring solemn warnings
To remember to kiss the ones you love goodnight
You never know what temporal days may bring
Laugh, love, live free and sing
When life is in discord
Praise ye the lord
Who's gonna call on Sunday morning?
Who's gonna drive you home?
I just want one more chance
To put my arms in fragile hands
I thought you said forever
Over and over
The sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion
These thoughts run through my head
Over and over
Complaints of violins become my only friends
I thought you said forever
Over and over
The sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion
These thoughts run through my head
Over and over
Complaints of violins become my only friends
I thought you said forever
Over and over
These thoughts run through my head

Sentence Prayer

Father, you are faithful
Your mighty gift Jesus, faithfully fulfilled every promise
Your Holy Spirit is a faithful guarantee
Forgive us for we are unfaithful
Grant us the strength to be just a little more faithful

Today.  Amen R.M.

MISSING

Snippet

I don't have a problem believing in God and Jesus. But in Genesis one has to wonder about these sentences that just go on and end without finishing. The thought is unfinished. Where did Adam go? What is he doing? Hello? There has to be some pages missing.  Bill Cosby

Scripture

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died[f] so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. 1 Thessalonians 4:13,14

The Hymn for the Missing by Red
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWEsrQx6A2U

I tried to walk together
But the night was growing dark
Thought you were beside me
But I reached and you were gone
Sometimes I hear you calling
From some lost and distant shore
I hear you crying softly for the way it was before
Where are you now?
Are you lost?
Will I find you again?
Are you alone?
Are you afraid?
Are you searching for me?
Why did you go? I had to stay
Now I'm reaching for you
Will you wait? will you wait?
Will I see you again?
you took it with you when you left
These scars are just a trace
Now it wanders lost and wounded
This heart that I misplaced
Where are you now?
Are you lost?
Will I find you again?
Are you alone?
Are you afraid?
Are you searching for me?
Why did you go? I had to stay
Now I'm reaching for you
Will you wait? will you wait?
Will I see you again?

Sentence Prayer

Lord,
So strange to us
This doorway labeled death!
-A door of darkness
Still closed to protect us
From the brilliance of eternal life;
A final obstacle
To the fullness of your presence.
We stand together at the threshold,
(Name)
And I pray this prayer
For this your child.
Give courage, Lord,
For this uncharted journey,
Peacefulness at parting
From all that must be left behind
An inner vision of invitation
For all that is better that awaits.
And I  also must release (name)
From my own flawed embrace
To your precious and perfect presence.
Soon enough I too must follow.
Placing my footsteps
In those of Christ Himself.  Amen

HOPE

Snippet

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.  Martin Luther King, Jr.
Scripture

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection,[e] and take delight in honoring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.[f] 12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13 When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!
Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18 Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,
“I will take revenge;
 I will pay them back,”[g]
 says the Lord.   Instead,
“If your enemies are hungry, feed them.
If they are thirsty, give them something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap
burning coals of shame on their heads.”[h]
Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. Romans 12:9-21

Hope To Carry On by Rich Mullins
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsYR9DhnrN8

I can see Jesus hanging on a cross
I can see Jesus hanging on a cross
Oh, I can see Jesus hanging on a cross
He came looking for the lost
And love has come
Love has come
Love has come
And given me hope to carry on
I can hear Jesus saying Father forgive (Father forgive)
I can hear Jesus saying Father forgive (Father forgive them)
I can hear Jesus saying Father forgive
And what a thing He did
Love has come
Love has come
Love has come
And given me hope to carry on
And I can see love
Love is all I want to see
It can make a beggar rich
It can set a prisoner free
I know He can do it for you
God knows He did it for me
And I can see love
And love is all I want to show you
Love
Love's the only way to go
And love
But love is all a man might need to know
This I know
And you know Peter put away his sword
I can see Peter putting away his sword
Well I can see Peter put away his sword
He won't fight no more
Love has come
Love has come
Love has come
And given me hope to carry on
To carry on
To carry on
Sentence Praye
r
Praise you O God, for you are Love!
By faith I affirm Love is greater than hate!
Yet, in this sin filled world violence forces us to change instantly
And our prayers for peace seem to be pie in the sky
Holy Spirit give us the courage to carry on with love
While the world practices hate.
We pray for Jesus return when Shalom
Will finally come.  Come Lord Jesus

Come Quickly.  Amen R.M.

BIGGER

SNIPPET

What if the Grand Canyon isn’t just a hole in the ground in the ground but an expression of divine vastness? God’s self-portrait draws millions, but do they really see it? What if we were to recognise that the world’s music rings with a spiritual echo of the harmonies of the Trinity? What if the millions who attend a NASCAR race this year would come to understand that they are doing more than cheering a favourite driver—that they are seeking intimate connection with the ultimate Great Person.
What if we were to realise that every sunset viewed, every sexual intimacy enjoyed, every favourite food savoured, every song sung or listened to, every home decorated, and every rich moment enjoyed in this life isn’t ultimately about itself but is an expression and reflection of God’s essential character? Wouldn’t such beautiful and desirable reflections mean that their Source must be even more beautiful—and, ultimately, most desirable?
— STEVE DEWITT, EYES WIDE OPEN: ENJOYING GOD IN EVERYTHING (P.8)

SCRIPTURE

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8,9

BIGGER POCKET FULL OF ROCKS
NO VIDEO AVAILABLE
FIND THE SONG ON I TUNES ON SONG TO KING ALBUM

I try to put You in my little box
But You keep busting hinges and You keep picking locks
And I see a bigger picture, how small I really am
Naked I come to the world, naked I'll go out again
What's a man to do
when he comes face to face with the divine
When every part of me
wants to run away and hide
But You keep getting bigger, and I do believe
That even with eternity, I still could not see
Just how big You are and just how far
You reach for me
You are bigger than me
You're bigger than me, Lord
I found it quite amazing, somewhat amusing too
The way some of us try
and put our fences around You
But I'm grateful for Your mercy
and for Your patient grace
And to think that You invite me Lord
to look upon Your face
What's a man to do when he comes face to face with the divine
When every part of me wants to run away and hide
(Chorus)
You're so much bigger than me, bigger than me

SENTENCE PRAYER

Eternal God,
By your power we are created
And by your love we are redeemed;
Guide and strengthen us by your spirit, hat we may give
ourselves to your service
and live this day in love to one another and to you.

Amen (New Zealand Prayer Book pg 130)

SEED

Snippet

Anyone can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed. Robert H. Schuller

Scripture

But someone may ask, “How will the dead be raised? What kind of bodies will they have?” 36 What a foolish question! When you put a seed into the ground, it doesn’t grow into a plant unless it dies first. 37 And what you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed of wheat or whatever you are planting. I Corinthians 15:35-37 NLT

Song
I am a Seed
David Crowder Band
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDpkj9Kamqg

Oh I am a seed
Oh I am a seed
I've been pushed down into the ground
But i will rise up a tree
Oh I can see it won't be long
Till I break free from what I was
Your river of grace flows endlessly
You won't turn your back on me
Oh I am a seed
Oh I am a seed
I've been pushed down into the ground
But i will rise up a tree
I've been burned up in so many fires
From these ashes I will rise
Lord your power has rescued me
For you I'll always sing
Oh I am a seed
Oh I am a seed
I've been pushed down into the ground
But I will rise up a tree
Oh I am a seed
Oh I am a seed
Won't stay long here in this earth
When you rain your love on me
Lord, rain your love on me

Sentence Prayer

A grain of wheat is a solitary grain
Till it falls to the ground and dies
A grain of wheat is a solitary grain.
But dead it bears a mighty harvest.
Praise to Jesus, the resurrection and the life.
All who have faith in Christ,
Through they die, they will come to life;
And no one who is alive in faith will every die.
For the Son of Man was raised up
So that everyone who believes in Jesus
May have eternal life.
Look on Jesus, lifted up,
Lifted high to redeem the world. Amen

HERO

Snippet

The three years of Jesus’ public ministry have stimulated more comment and literature across nineteen centuries than any other comparable segment of human history.  Carl F.H. Henry  A Plea for Evangelical Demonstration, Baker, 1971, p. 55.

Scripture

Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.  John 21:25

Song
Hero By Abandon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bN1WFt21-0

He walked the dirty streets
Famous for nothing
He said, "Come follow me"
And they came
A face like all the rest
But something was different
The Son of God would lead the way
And soon they all would say
There He goes, a Hero, a Savior to the world
Here He stands with scars in His hands
With love He gave His life so we could be free
The Savior of the world
He spoke with clarity
Walked across the sea
A single word
Would calm the storm
His touch could heal the sick
But He was called a hypocrite
Laid behind the stone
His death was shortly mourned
He left the curtain torn
And there He goes, a Hero, a Savior to the world
Here He stands with scars in His hands
With love He gave His life so we could be free
The Savior of the world
He chose to take the cross
Shed tears for the lost
The broken and the needy
Forgiving those who were and will be
The angel made it clear
He told them have no fear
He's not here, He's not here
There He goes, a Hero, a Savior to the world
Here He stands with scars in His hands
With love He gave His life so we could be free
The Savior of the world, the Savior of the world
The Savior of the world

Sentence Prayer

Father
When we were still helpless,
Christ died for the wicked at the time God Chose.
One of us might dare to die for someone good.
But now we see God’s love;
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God rescued us from the power of darkness
And brought us safe into the kingdom of his dear son.
By whom we are set free and our sins are forgiven.
So we rejoice in the hope we have of sharing in God’s glory.
By the Holy Spirit God has poured into our hearts the love of

Christ.  Amen. (New Zealand Prayer book pg 129)
