The Daily Dose of God July 24

Memory Verse; There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. Pr 21:30

John 12:1-36, Psalms 12

Religion has in fact outdone culture in dualistic thinking - we've become as violent, as hateful toward our enemies, damning them to hell and whatever else, that the world doesn't look to us for wisdom, because we're trapped in the dualistic mind, instead of the mind of Christ that we were supposed to have.  Richard Rohr

Lord God, you reveal yourself to us in so many subversive and unassuming ways. Give us the eyes to see the miracles and resurrection that happen every day. Unclog our ears to hear you, and show us how to get rid of the clutter of our lives that we might make room for you. Amen.  (Commonprayer.net)

The Daily Dose of God July 23

Memory Verse; There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. Pr 21:30

John 11, Psalms 11

Our present ecological crisis, the biggest single practical threat to our human existence in the middle to long term, has, religious -people would say, a great deal to do with our failure to think of the world as existing in relation to the mystery of God, not just as a huge warehouse of stuff to be used for our convenience.  Rowan Williams

We praise you, O Lord, for the waters, the mountains and hills, the deserts and valleys, the wilderness spaces, and for all living creatures. Forgive us when we have not been good caretakers of the earth. Make us into -people who practice resurrection by bringing dead things back to life and by making ugly things beautiful again. Amen. The Daily Dose of God July 22

Memory Verse; There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. Pr 21:30

John 10:22-42, Psalms 10

My experience has shown that when we welcome -people from this world of anguish, brokenness and depression, and when they gradually discover that they are wanted and loved as they are and that they have a place, then we witness a real transformation I would even say ‘resurrection.’ Their tense, angry, fearful, depressed body gradually becomes relaxed, peaceful and trusting. This shows through the expression on the face and through all their flesh. As they discover a sense of belonging, that they are part of a ‘family,’ then the will to live begins to emerge. I do not believe it is of any value to push -people into doing things unless this desire to live and to grow has begun to emerge. Jean Vanier

Lord, save us from trouble but help us to be -people who get in the way of injustice and trouble the waters of oppression. Thank you for whispering to us that we are beloved. Help us now to whisper your love to those who long to hear that there is a loving God. Amen. (Commonprayer.net)

Memory Verse; There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. Pr 21:30

John 9-10:21, Psalms 9

A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered. Carve your name on hearts, not on marble. Charles Hadden Spurgeon

Jesus,  we give You praise for the reminder everyday in Your Word, who we are and most definitely...WHO You are.  No matter the hits, nothing can take us fully away from Your shepherding our beings.  Always will You come for us and take us back to Your flock.  Amen (Prayers Cross)

God’s wounds cure, sin’s kisses kill. William Gurnall

God, thank You for all that You have done! You are good and Your mercy endures forever! Thank You for being faithful in my life. Today, I want to honor You and give You the praise and glory You deserve. (New Dawn @olumideki)

The Daily Dose of God July 19

For an extended time, I am going to be without internet and the Daily Dose may not show up at the regular places I post but the posts will be available at http://windtales.blogspot.com

Memory Verse; There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. Pr 21:30

John 7, Psalms 7

The long painful history of the church is the history of people ever and again tempted to choose power over love, control over the cross, being a leader over being led. Those who resisted this temptation to the end and thereby give us hope are the true saints.  Henri Nouwen

Gracious Father, Your patience is our mercy, and it is the fruit of Your Spirit. May we follow Your Spirit into such wisdom that is slow to anger, forgiving, truth-telling, and seeks the good of others. Also may we turn from pride so we do not require great patience from You or those we meet along life's way. Rather may we bless You and provoke love in one another. In the Name of Christ the Great Shepherd we come to You, amen (Adah Hutchcraft)

Memory Verse; There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.

Pr 21:30

John 6, Psalms 6

It is almost universally conceded today that you can be a Christian without being a disciple. That has placed a tremendous burden on a mass of Christians who are not disciples. We tell them to come to church, participate in our programs and give money. But we see a church that knows nothing of commitment.

We need to clarify what discipleship is. My definition: A disciple is a person who has decided that the most important thing in their life is to learn how to do what Jesus said to do. A disciple is not a person who has things under control, or knows a lot of things. Disciples simply are people who are constantly revising their affairs to carry through on their decision to follow Jesus.  Dallas Willard

Lord, grant us the ability to think with your mind, to hear with your ears, to see with your eyes, to speak with your mouth, to walk with your feet, to love with your heart. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. (Commonprayer.net)
