The Daily Dose of God April 3

Memory Verse; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV

Daniel 12:5-13, Ps 86

Easter Saturday. A day of in-between.

A grave is about to be emptied, but not yet.

The joy of knowing what’s coming;

the pain of having to wait for it.

An analogy for the whole Christian life.

#HolySaturday--Sam Allberry (@SamAllberry)

Our Gracious God, In the stillness of our souls we remember Your sure promises. We live in expectation because of Your faithfulness. Give us grace for times of uncertainty and grief. When we are tempted to run or hide in fear, impart strength to wait upon You. Not even death can separate us from Your love in Christ Jesus. May faith's expectation overcome fear's uncertainty. We wait for You, our Hope and our Salvation. In the Name of Christ, Amen. (Adah Hutchcraft)

The Daily Dose of God April 2

Memory Verse; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV

Daniel 10-12:4, Ps 85

If Christ is God, He cannot sin, and if suffering was a sin in and by itself, He could not have suffered and died for us. However, since He took the most horrific death to redeem us, He showed us in fact that suffering and pain have great power.”   E.A. Bucchianeri, Brushstrokes of a Gadfly

Our Gracious Father, Today we are reminded of Jesus' sobering words, "a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him." If we know these things, we are blessed if we do them. So just as our Lord and Teacher washed His disciple's feet, may we faithfully wash one another’s feet. Jesus Christ gave us an example, that we should do as He has done to us. Thank You for looking upon our poverty with mercy and for making us rich by faith in Your Son. Just as we are accepted, so may we love one another. In the Name of Christ. Amen. (Adah Hutchcraft)

Daniel 7-9, Ps 84

For Jesus, there are no countries to be conquered, no ideologies to be imposed, no people to be dominated. There are only children, women and men to be loved.  Henri Nouwen

Our Gracious God,

Today we remember when Jesus was anointed for His burial. Like the humble woman who anointed Him, may our worship of Christ be without reservation. In our heart of hearts, may we humbly kneel before Him in adoration. Like the costly jar of perfume which was gratefully broken, give us grace to be poured out for You, for Christ poured Himself out for our sake upon the cross.  And like the beautiful fragrance of spikenard which filled the house, may the fragrance of Christ's life and death be upon us--a pleasing savor to You. In the Name of Christ, amen. (Adah Hutchcraft)

We give thanks, God, for the prophets who love us enough to tell us your hard truth. Show us where we need your words for our repentance and conversion, and teach us how to always speak your truth in love. Amen. (commonprayer.net)

In 50 years, the world has changed, especially for kids, but kids' needs haven't changed. They still need to feel safe, be close to their families, like their teachers, and have friends to play with. Beverly Cleary

Daniel 3 Psalms 80

Jesus is both a mirror to our humanity and a window to divinity, a window revealing as much of God as is given mortal eyes to see. When Christians see Christ empowering the weak, scorning the powerful, healing the wounded, and judging their tormentors, we are seeing transparently the power of God at work. William Sloane Coffin

Father in Heaven, Forgive us of all we were when we were not in Christ. Wash us clean of all we have done that was not led by Your Spirit. Thank You for grace to live in the new life You give, which is without regret or pretense. In the Name of Christ our Life, amen. (Adah Hutchcraft)
