Pray
Lord, keep us from following a faith that awaits peace in heaven. You are our peace, and you are always with us. May your peace come and your will be done on earth, as indeed it is in heaven. Amen.

Daily Dose of God's Word For September 5th

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-5

Memory Verse: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

Cause I'm just a nobody trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me, You gave my heart a song to sing
I'm living for the world to see nobody but Jesus Nobody by Casting Crowns

 John 1:29-42

Andrew accepted John the Baptist’s testimony about Jesus and immediately went to tell his brother, Simon, about him. There was no question in Andrew’s mind that Jesus was the Messiah. Not only did he tell his brother, but he was also eager to introduce others to Jesus (see 6:8-9; 12:22). How many people in your life have heard you talk about your relationship with Jesus?  Tyndale. Life Application Study Bible NIV (Kindle Locations 191437-191439). Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. Kindle Edition.

Pray

Father, may your Holy Spirit mold us into an Andrew, who tells others they have found the Messiah.  Amen

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-4

Memory Verse: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

Cause I'm just a nobody trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me, You gave my heart a song to sing
I'm living for the world to see nobody but Jesus Nobody by Casting Crowns

Tuesday September 4  2 Kings 6:24-7:20

What does this awful story illustrate about, telling others about Jesus?

Pray

Father, you bring both the feast and famine in life.  You are the author of death and life.  You humble the proud, and exalt starving lepers.  From beginning to end You are the good news the starving need.  Punishment, will overtake us if we keep it to ourselves.  Amen REM

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-3

Memory Verse: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

Cause I'm just a nobody trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me, You gave my heart a song to sing
I'm living for the world to see nobody but Jesus Nobody by Casting Crowns

Tuesday September 3  Psalms 145

Verse 3 seems to be a summary of the theme of this entire Psalm: Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable. Take that thought with you today and meditate on it. No matter how we search and discover the greatness of God in our own life, we will never plumb the depths. The best man ever does is only a slight reflection of the greatness of God that exists for eternity.

Pray

Lord, where your church is weak through comfort, strengthen us through the necessary trials. Where your church is invisible through fear, make your word known through the boldness of prophets and through the courage of ordinary -people like us. Amen.  (http://commonprayer.net)

Monday, September 2  2 Kings 5

Remember the tragic words about Naaman: but a leper. Those words speak to us today. The effects of leprosy run deep, but by appearance, the leper is “skin-sick.” All humanity is “sin-sick.” Spiritually speaking, we are all lepers until Jesus heals us.
– No matter what we accomplish in life, we still have to deal with sin.
– Our sin-sickness makes us dead while still alive.
– We can’t heal our own sin-sickness.
– Our sin-sickness often follows a slow progression.
– Left to itself, our sin-sickness will grow worse and worse.
– Our sin-sickness will lead to death without what only God can do.
The story of General Naaman has a happy ending. That isn’t true of every sin-sick person. But Jesus knows how to heal both the leper (Matthew 8:1-3) and the sinner. Jesus rescues both the skin-sick and the sin-sick. https://enduringword.com/but-a-leper/

Pray

God grant me the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And the Wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time.
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as he did, this sinful world as it is,
Not as I would like it.
Trusting that he will make all things right,
If I surrender to his will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this world

And supremely happy in the next.

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-1

Memory Verse: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

Galatians 2

How have our old selves been crucified with Christ? Legally, God looks at us as if we had died with Christ. Because our sins died with him, we are no longer condemned (Colossians 2:13-15). Relationally, we have become one with Christ, and his experiences are ours. Our Christian life began when, in unity with him, we died to our old life (see Romans 6:5-11). In our daily life, we must regularly crucify sinful desires that keep us from following Christ. This, too, is a kind of dying with him (Luke 9:23-25).     And yet the focus of Christianity is not on dying but on living. Because we have been crucified with Christ, we have also been raised with Him (Romans 6:5).
