Red Sea Rules Devotion September 10. This week we are looking Red Sea Rule # 4‐‐‐PRAY! It just so happens it coincides with the fifteenth anniversary of 9/11. Wednesday night at 6:30 we had our first Bible Study. We studied Genesis Twenty-Two Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Issac.
The attacks on the eleventh of September, were carried out by radical Islamic terrorists. This Sunday Islam celebrates Eid al-Adha, or it is often called; festival of sacrifice. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, as an act of submission to God's command, before God then intervened, through his angel Jibra'il (Gabriel) and informs him that his sacrifice has already been accepted. The meat from the sacrificed animal is preferred to be divided into three parts. The family retains one-third of the share; another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbors; and the remaining third is given to the poor and needy.
In this story, there are big differences between the three Monotheistic faiths. Judaism and Christianity hold no sacrifice of any man is acceptable because of sin. And it is God who must provide for man's atonement. Our story of Abraham's sacrifices includes Genesis 22:13,14 “Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram[a] caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” Christian hold the mountain of the Lord is Golgatha, and the Lord has provided, in Jesus an acceptable sacrifice.
Jesus, our Savior, has commanded us in our Red Sea trials to; But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:44 Pray during Eid al-Adha, for our enemies, that they may find what God has provided in Jesus! Prayer is formed on the idea of Jehovah-jireh. This name means “the God who provides.” Remember, our enemy is not flesh and blood, but spiritual forces of the dark.
