The Daily Dose of God September 4

Memory Verse; You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18

Romans 12-13 Psalms 54

The crushing burdens of this world cannot be borne by the people of God unless those people have learned the breadth and height and depth of the love of God for themselves. Our fruits will not be abundant if our roots are not deep."--Dr. Diane Langberg

God, thank You for being the ultimate source of goodness and for showing me kindness even when I don’t deserve it. Help me reflect Your kindness in my relationships and show others love even when it’s challenging. Give me the strength to admit when I’m wrong, and wisdom as I navigate conflicts with people in my life.  In Jesus' name.  Amen. (New Dawn @olumideki)

Memory Verse; You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18

Romans 11 Psalms 53

Every prayer is a rebuttal to the “look within” logic of our age. To pray is to acknowledge that we don’t have all the answers in ourselves. We don’t have sufficient wisdom to make complex decisions.  Brett McCracken

Lord, even the seraphim and cherubim hide their faces in your presence as they declare your praise. Help us mere mortals to humbly dethrone ourselves and bow before you, that in our weakness we might know your good news and forever sing your glory. Amen. (Commonprayer.net)

Memory Verse; You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18

Romans 9:30-10:21 Psalms 52

There's this idea that to live out of conformity with how I feel is hypocrisy; but that's a wrong definition of hypocrisy,"..."To live out of conformity to what I believe is hypocrisy. To live in conformity with what I believe, in spite of what I feel, isn't hypocrisy; it's integrity. Erik Thoennes.

God, thank You for being with me in seasons of hardship. When I’m at my worst, I know You are still good. Help me to feel Your nearness when I have challenging days and surround me with others who can also uplift me when I am down. In Jesus’ name, Amen. (New Dawn @olumideki)

The Daily Dose of God September1

Memory Verse; You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18

Romans 9:1-29 Psalms 51

“Superficiality is one of the greatest reasons men have lost their warrior spirit, or have become warriors in the wrong cause. We simply cannot be warriors for God unless he has our whole heart unless he is our first and greatest love. More than our career, our wife, our children, and yes, even our own selves, God must be the greatest passion in life.” Excerpt From: Sam Laing. “Warrior—A Call to Every Man Everywhere.” iBooks.

Lord, help us not to conform to the patterns of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Give us a new imagination so that we might live in ways that do not compute to the logic of materialism and militarism. Make us into holy nonconformists so that we might see the kingdoms of this world transformed into your glorious kingdom. Amen (commonprayer.net)

The Daily Dose of God August 31

Memory Verse; Adonai is my portion and my cup.

You cast my lot.  My boundary lines fall in pleasant places

—surely my heritage is beautiful. Psalms 16:6 TLV

Romans 7:7-8 Psalms 50

It was granted me to carry away from my prison years on my bent back, which nearly broke beneath its load, this essential experience: how a human being becomes evil and how good. In the intoxication of youthful successes, I had felt myself to be infallible, and I was therefore cruel. In the surfeit of power I was a murderer, and an oppressor. In my most evil moments, I was convinced that I was doing good, and I was well supplied with systematic arguments. And it was only when I lay there on rotting prison straw that I sensed within myself the first stirrings of good. Gradually it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either—but right through every human heart—and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. And even within hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained. And even in the best of all hearts, there remains … an unuprooted small corner of evil. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Gulag Archipelago.

Merciful God, you must grieve over our broken earth as King David mourned the death of his disobedient son, Absalom. Break our own hearts with the things that break yours. Make us voices in the wilderness that cry out for your kingdom to come on earth. Amen. (commonprayer.net)

Be careful how you unfold your wings, there are some in the world who are not content unless their teeth are full of feathers. Kathleen Norris

Teach us to listen, Lord. Quiet the noise of our lives so we can hear your voice. Amen.  (commonprayer.net)

Memory Verse; Adonai is my portion and my cup.

You cast my lot.  My boundary lines fall in pleasant places

—surely my heritage is beautiful. Psalms 16:6 TLV

Romans 5:12-21 Psalms 48

We become what we love and who we love shapes what we become.  If we love things, we become a thing.  If we love nothing, we become nothing.  Imitation is not a literal mimicking of Christ, rather it means to become the image of the beloved, an image disclosed through transformation.  This means we are to become vessels of God's compassionate love for others.  Claire of Assisi

Jesus, Life at times seems to be so full of awareness of our accomplishments, and then we seem to think we haven't accomplished much.  It is a great awakening to our beings when we turn our attention to giving You all accomplishments.  It becomes such an awakening to see the little things taken for granted and how they give joy to someone and then just that slight smile on their faces diverts our focus. We lift our hands to You and thank You for bringing that smile to someone's face.  This day, Jesus, whether we accomplish big things or little things, we give You praise for all!!! Amen.
