Our Gracious Father, We desire to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus at all times. Let us not be moved by the unrest around us. Strengthen us to resist becoming entangled in sins which deceptively promise temporary ease and relief. May we turn to You alone for comfort and refuge as citizens of Heaven. Since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, we can be filled with gratitude, and worship You acceptably with reverence and awe. You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You. Christianity is a lifestyle - a way of being in the world that is simple, non-violent, shared, and loving. However, we made it into an established "religion" (and all that goes with that) and avoided the lifestyle change itself. One could be warlike, greedy, racist, selfish, and vain in most of Christian history, and still believe that Jesus is one's "personal Lord and Savior" . . . Honest disunity is better than unity in something dishonest.  In honest disunity, we can at least face where we are fractured, own up to our differences, and unify around our urgent need for God.  Unity at all costs, however, not only bears poor fruit, it can also bear criminal fruit and even killer fruit, excusing the inexcusable.
