The Daily Dose of God May 29

Memory Verse; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God  Romans 3:23

Matthew 23-24, Psalms 142

The cross of Christ is the most revolutionary thing ever to appear among men.

The cross of the Roman times knew no compromise; it never made concessions. It won all its arguments by killing its opponent and silencing him for good. It spared not Christ, but slew Him the same as the rest. He was alive when they hung Him on that cross and completely dead when they took him down six hours later. . . A.W. Tozer

Jesus, forgive me for the Myriad of times I have carelessly declared; "Jesus is Lord!"  The cross of Christ is greater than Rome's!  The cross is also light for no one can carry their cross, without the power of the Holy Spirit.  Slay all in me both good and sinful, that does not bow the knee to Jesus my Lord! Amen (REM)

Lord, enable us today to see our neighbor in those whom the world rejects the guilt-ridden, the foreigner, the unprotected, and the refugee. Open our eyes and make us present to these neighbors both in our various expressions of community and in the wider world. Amen.   (Commonprayer.net)

Bless this day,

this blank page

newly turned.

May its story,

once written,

bring only glory

to your name.

Matthew 13:1-52, Psalms 136

Just to be is a blessing. Just to live is holy. Abraham Joshua Heschel

Creator God,

from the moment your spirit

hovered over the waters of this earth,

we were part of a vision

held lovingly within your heart.

From the moment you spoke

and separated darkness from light,

you created space

where we might one day walk.

From the moment your joy

spilled out into green and living things,

your beauty was revealed

for us to taste and see.

Creator God,

for this world,

beauty and majesty,

passion and artistry,

a green and pleasant place,

we praise your mighty name.
