SB-031 The Banning of Bobcat, Mountain Lion and Lynx harvest.

SB-031 The Banning of Bobcat, Mountain Lion and Lynx harvest.

I am writing to oppose SB22-031, which seeks to ban the harvest of any wildcats, with a limited number of exceptions.

I support science-based wildlife management. This type of management involves integrating scientific information to help achieve the goals and objectives set by our fish and game agencies. By monitoring, science can help set the baseline by recording the abundance of fish and game through time. Hunting, fishing, and trapping provide wildlife biologists with much-needed data.

I support ethical hunting and trapping.  Science-based management that includes hunting, is partially responsible for the successful reintroduction of certain species such as the Lynx.  Banning ethical hunters would become a missing tool of science-based wildlife management.

I oppose SB-031 because banning the harvest of wildcats would take away the monitoring of ethical sportsmen. Outdoorsmen's reasonable harvest over multiple decades has prospered all species.  SB-O31  moves away from a scientific means of conserving Colorados' wildlife.

SB-O31 would ban the ethical harvest of the Bobcat, Lynx, and Mountain Lion. From the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website; "Reintroduced lynx have been monitored by the CPW for over a decade to track the population’s progress toward reaching these benchmarks. As of summer 2010, all benchmarks for successful lynx reintroduction have been met. "  This success was accomplished in part by hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses.  At what point in the banning ethical harvest of certain species, does the funding of the outdoorsman cease?  As there is less introduction to the natural world through fishing and hunting, how long before we regress into ignorant and harmful practices to bio-diversity?

I oppose SB-031 because of the bills' punitive and unreasonable penalties. A person that violates the bill is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of $500 to $2,000 or up to one year in jail, an assessment of 20 hunting license suspension points, and civil restitution of $700 for a mountain lion or bobcat and $1,000 for a Canada lynx.  Upon conviction, the commission may suspend the person's hunting license for up to 5 years.  Is this reasonable in a state that has legalized pot and is very lenient in its bail and sentencing laws?

Fullfill all righteousness!

What is meant by; To fulfill all righteousness? Several concordance notes on Matthew 3:15, refer back to Ezekiel 18.  Ezekiel 18:4,5 NASB states, "Behold, all [c]souls are Mine; the [d]soul of the father as well as the [e]soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die. But if a man is righteous and practices justice and righteousness, " The Torah had only one standard of righteousness, perfection!  As Paul would later state, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

This is why John the Baptist in verse 14 states; "But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?”  Burton Coffman, "This was equivalent to saying, "Yes, I know I have no sins to be repented of and that I might claim an exemption from this duty proclaimed by the authority of God and binding upon all men; but, since this is God's ordinance, I wish to honor it anyway and am delighted to do so by obeying the commandment now.

The writer of Hebrews 10:1; "For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very [a]form of things, [b]can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near."  John the Baptist was the movie trailer of the good things to come, righteousness for all!  But this was the start, not the end!  So both John and Jesus humbly submit to baptizing and being baptized. There will be many more steps; the Temptation of Christ in the desert, the garden of Gethsemane, the Cross, the empty tomb, and eventually Revelation 22. As Joel asked us; "are we willing to do today, what it takes to fulfill God's righteous restoration of His creation?"

Jesus is pointing to a greater righteousness that transcends and exceeds the written law of the Torah - He is describing a righteousness not from without but a righteousness that God creates within us that is planted and becomes innate by a miracle of the Holy Spirit - a change of heart and attitude. It is described in various ways such as "the mind of Christ", the law of love", "the law of Christ", etc. (https://hermeneutics.stackexchange.com/questions/48395/what-is-righteousness-in-matthew-315)

Morning Prayer 2022

So I have been asking; "how will I become more like Jesus this year?"  Jesus is many things but He is Israel! Jesus grew up Jewish. Jesus wrote, mastered, and fulfillment of God's promises.

Jesus is also the head of the Church, Jesus is bond of peace for the great cloud of witnesses, and Jesus is this world's only hope.

Jesus will destroy all evil.  Jesus will restore Eden! Come, Lord Jesus! Come Quickly!

I am seeking Jesus by learning more about His Jewish roots. I am practicing Jesus by worshipping in the great cloud of witnesses. The next three posts will be the daily prayers to begin this journey

Prayers for Others

Charge Prayer of St Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:

where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on

earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we

forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.
