The Daily Dose of God September 11

Memory Verse; You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18

1 Corinthians  7 Psalms 61

Life is too short to hate! Widow of pilot from flight 93

Dear Loving Father,

We pause to remember the great losses and courageous acts of September 11th. We lift up those who are still affected -- families of the victims, police officers, firemen, first responders, and all who were involved. We pray for the light of Christ to flood the hearts of people everywhere. We believe You desire to redeem Your creation, and we trust that beauty will continue to come from the ashes of those dark days. Surround us with Your mighty angels of protection, give us compassion for one another in all of life’s circumstances, and instill in us the courage to answer Your call. Amen. (DaySpring. Com)

September 10 The Daily Dose of God

Memory Verse; You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18

1 Corinthians  5-6 Psalms 60

There is no life to be found in violence. Every act of violence brings us closer to death. Whether it's the mundane violence we do to our bodies by overeating toxic food or drink or the extreme violence of child abuse, domestic warfare, life-threatening poverty, addiction, or state terrorism.

Lord, teach us the distinction between the brokenness that leads us to squander our gifts and the brokenness that leads us to seek and find you, even in the most desolate places. Amen. (commonprayer.net)

Memory Verse; You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18

1 Corinthians 3:4- 4:21 Paalma 59

The Word became flesh and dwelled among us.

The Word didn’t become a religious system.

The Word didn’t become a theological checklist.

The Word didn’t become a political movement.

The Word didn’t become an estatic experience.

The Word became flesh. Loving embodied existence.

--Rich Villodas

Dear Lord, grant me the grace of wonder. Surprise me, amaze me, awe me in every crevice of your universe. Each day enrapture me with your marvelous things without number. ...I do not ask to see the reason for it all: I ask only to share the wonder of it all.

(Abraham Joshua Heschel)

Memory Verse; You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18

1 Corinthians 1-3:4 Psalms 58

We must be the men above all others who are the most easily convicted, most readily humbled, and most quickly perceptive of our sins and weaknesses. Nothing is worse than to witness an older man who is unaware of himself; a man who, after years of life and service to God, still has blind spots that he does not see or admit.  Sam Lang

Lord, keep us from following a faith that awaits peace in heaven. You are our peace, and you are always with us. May your peace come and your will be done on earth, as indeed it is in heaven. Amen. (CommonPrayer.net)

Memory Verse; You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18

Catch up day Psalms 57

Christ seeks from us deeds not words. Devotion to him is in the first place not sentimental but practical. If the Christian faith has no power to restore or recreate the human will, leading one to deeds of unselfish ser-vice, then it stands self-condemned. C. F. Andrews

Romans 6:18

Romans 14-15 Psalms 55

Persecutions are to the works of God what the frosts of the winter are to plants; far from destroying them, they help them to strike their roots deep in the soil and make them more full of life. Alphonsus Liguori

Lord, where your church is weak through comfort, strengthen us through the necessary trials. Where your church is invisible through fear, make your word known through the boldness of prophets and through the courage of ordinary -people like us. Amen. (Commonprayer.net)
