Daily Dose For June 20

Memory Verse And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 ESV

1 Samuel 30-31 Proverbs 19

“For years we put our trust in the government. We hoped that the President would hold the line, that the right appointees to the Supreme Court would help stem the flood of unrighteousness, that a politically active church would turn our nation back. But we have been misled! We have put our confidence in the flesh. In our fight for religious rights we have subtly confessed, ‘In man do we trust.’ But government cannot save! Only Jesus can save. And He must be our message.” Michael Brown

“Lord, embolden us to go wherever you call us, to greet whoever you send us, and to do whatever you ask of us, that we might know no fear except that reverence which leads to wisdom. Amen.” (Commonprayer.net)

1 Samuel 28-29 Proverbs 18

“Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergymen or laymen, they alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon Earth. John Wesley

“I am no longer my own, but thine. Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt. Put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee, exalted for thee or brought low for thee. Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. Amen.” (John Wesley)

1 Samuel 26-27 Proverbs 17

“Take heed, then, to come together often to give thanks to God, and show his praise. For when you come frequently together in the same place, the powers of Satan are destroyed, and his fiery darts of sin fall back, worthless. For your unity and harmonious faith prove his destruction, and the torment of his assistants. Nothing is better than Christ’s peace, by which all war, both of heavenly and earthly spirits, is brought to an end.” Ignatius of Antioch

God, set our hearts on you alone, that we might not be distracted by the schemes of the devil but race on with all of our being to receive the gift of life that never ends, through -Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Commonprayer.net)

Thank you, Lord, for everything you've done for me. Forgive me of all my sins.  Be the Lord of my life.  Create in me a clean heart and the right spirit with me, renew my mind. Heal me from the hurt of my past. I love you and need you.  Cover me with Your precious and holy blood, as well as my family, my friends, and my life projects. Give me Your dream.  Lord bless and protect everyone that seeks You, needs You and believes in You.  In Jesus' name Amen. (Spiritfoodforthought)

1 Samuel 20-21 Proverbs 15:1-29

"What we must avoid is the error of thinking holiness is either an external or an internal reality: it must transform both our intent and our actions."—Skye Jethani

Lord, give our new convictions roots,

hands, and feet that act with "a long

obedience in the right direction."

Give our old defenses a proper burial,

laid to rest down deep in the ground.

Give us humility at all times, especially

when we feel the urge to run away from

facing the truth of our sins and failures.

Remind us that truth without love

is a clanging symbol, reverberating noise

that accomplishes nothing but ear aches

and heart aches, rifts in unity

within the Body of Christ. (Rachel Joy Welcher)

1 Samuel 18-19 Proverbs 14

"“I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness. I hear the ever-approaching thunder, which will destroy us too. I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right. In the meantime, I must uphold my ideals, for perhaps the time will come when I shall be able to carry them out.”"—Anne Frank

God, you alone are the judge of humankind, yet you call us to work toward justice. Help us make the judgments necessary for faithful living without becoming judgmental, that we may celebrate the mystery by which your justice is your mercy, through -Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.(Commonprayer.net)
