Memory Verse; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Catch up day Psalms 44

A test of a people is how it behaves toward the old. It is easy to love children. Even tyrants and dictators make a point of being fond of children. But the affection and care for the old, the incurable, the helpless are the true gold mines of a culture. Abraham Joshua Heschel

Thank you, Lord, that you never abandon us to our hopelessness. There is always room at your table for those who feel forgotten, or who have been cast out. Train us in such hospitality. Amen.  (Commonprayer.net)

Lamentations 5 Psalms 43

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else — you are the one who gets burned. Buddhist Saying

Heavenly Father, we know from all of the experiences that have been ours, that we cannot make the journey by ourselves. All of life teaches us that we need your hand; we must be led by your counsel. We would walk daily with you, because of your help; but we also would walk with you for the joy that we obtain from your fellowship. Withdraw not your presence from us, for we are lost without you, and find ourselves stumbling blindly in the surrounding darkness... Forgive us all our sins, and give us strength day by day to do your will. This we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.  (RalphMarkGilbert)

Lamentations 4 Psalms 42

When wealth is passed off as merit, bad luck is seen as bad character.  This is how ideologues justify punishing the sick and poor.  But poverty is neither a crime or nor a character flaw.  Stigmatize those who let people die, not those who struggle to live. Sarah Kendzior

Despite the fact we are all made in your image, God, we can see ourselves as brothers and sisters only by the light of your redeeming grace. Give us eyes to see that we are made from the same dirt, and help us work to reconcile ourselves to one another and to the ground beneath us. Amen. (commonprayer.net)

Lamentations 3 Psalms 41

Nature is schoolmistress, the soul the pupil; and whatever one has taught or the other has learned has come from God the Teacher of the teacher. Tertullian

Father in Heaven, When grief is accompanied by tragedy and when loss comes with shocking impact, You remain the firm and unmovable foundation for our souls. When emotions conflict within us and overwhelm us, You are still our Light, our Shepherd, and our Shield. In our distress we will cry out to You. In our need we will rely upon You. Your faithfulness is our mercy. Hear now this intercession and draw close those who need hope in their sorrow. In the Name of Christ, amen.

Memory Verse; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Lamentations 2 Psalms 40

Simplicity is the first cousin of contentment. Its motto is, ‘We brought nothing into this world, and we can certainly carry nothing out.’ It recognizes that we are pilgrims. It concentrates us on what we need and measures this by what we use. It rejoices in the good things of creation, but hates waste and greed and clutter. It knows how easily the seed of the Word is smothered by the ‘cares and riches of this life.’ It wants to be free of distractions, in order to love and serve God and others. John Stott

Lord, the morning is clothed with splendor from the beauty of dewdrops to the slow rising of the sun. And yet, as each day descends to night, we trust that the morning beauty will come again. Likewise, we pray to trust that you will decorate our lives with the essentials we need for today. Amen. (commonprayer.net)

Lamentations 1 Psalms 39

One of the conditions of truly being a saint and being in-dwelt by the Holy Spirit is a certain kind of world-weariness. I used to think as a younger Christian it was only energy and life but the longer I’ve walked as a pilgrim I see it’s the hunger for the new world that marks us. David Bennett

Our Holy Father,

Our hearts are full as we delight in Your tenderness, Your holiness, and Your goodness. We are deeply moved by Your sacrificial love and desire to love You more each day until at last, we see Your face. In the Name of Christ, amen. (Adah Hutchcraft)

We have a picture of the perfect partner, but we marry an imperfect person. Then we have two options. Tear up the picture and accept the person or tear up the person and accept the picture. J. Grant Howard

Almighty God, You are love.  You have entered the muck and mire of this world, creating a masterpiece of love for us to live in our own muck and mire.  May we be Jesus to our eternal partner. (REM)
