Memory Verse; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God  Romans 3:23

Matthew 11-12, Psalms 135

Our goal should be to live life in radical amazement. ....get up in the morning and look at the world in a way that takes nothing for granted. Everything is phenomenal; everything is incredible; never treat life casually. To be spiritual is to be amazed.  Abraham Joshua Heschel

Bless to us, O God, the morning sun that is above us, the good earth that is beneath us, the friends that are around us, Your image deep within us, the day which is before us.  (Iona Prayer Quoted in Waymarks by Peter Millar )

Memory Verse; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God  Romans 3:23

Matthew 10, Ps 134

Others might not be comfortable with our most honest, desperate cries, but the psalms make it exceedingly clear God is. This is the prayer book of God’s people, written in the language of desire that situates our pain next to praise. Not hiding pain underneath praise. Not whispering about it. The psalms display God’s people attuned to their pain and willing to express it in striking vulnerability.  K.J. Ramsey, This Too Shall Last

More often than not, Lord, we are afraid of truth. It threatens the identities we have created for ourselves and the ways we are comfortable perceiving others. Give us ears to hear your truth as blessing and mouths to celebrate your truth as gift. Amen. (CommonPrayer.net)

Memory Verse; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God  Romans 3:23

Matthew 8-9, Ps 133

Most of the things we need to be most fully alive never come in busyness. They grow in rest.”  Mark Buchanan, The Holy Wild: Trusting in the Character of God

Father, Psalms 131 is a journey from Egypt going up to Jerusalem! It is not true yet of me, but Jesus speak these words into reality!  "Lord, my heart isn’t proud.  My eyes aren’t proud either.  I don’t concern myself with important matters. I don’t concern myself with things that are too wonderful for me. I have made myself calm and content like a young child in its mother’s arms. Deep down inside me, I am as content as a young child.  Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forever." NIRV  Holy Spirit, wean this child so I may rest!  Amen (REM)

Memory Verse; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God  Romans 3:23

Matthew 6:19-7:29, Ps 132

The very first lesson in Biblical narrative is I need you to learn when to take a break. . .  A break that is a reminder that your value and worth does not come from what you produce, it comes from who you are!  Mary Solomon

Holy and Gracious Lord,  We praise You that when we cease from working for Your favor and put our faith in Christ, he personally justifies us. We confess that our righteousness does not come from works of the law and is not our own, but comes through faith in Your Son. Today we will remember and believe that Your caring attentiveness is toward the righteous, and Your ears are open to our prayer: this is our blessed condition in Christ our Savior. Amen. Memory Verse; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God  Romans 3:23

Matthew 4:12-6:18, Ps 131

What’s reflexive to human beings is this feeling that God could never love us, that we are so bad and so messed up and so screwed up that we’re beyond redemption. And that’s not the story that you find in Scripture.   Jen Pollock Michel, "A Habit Called Faith"

Today we pray for courage to dig ourselves deeper into the good soil, so that your word may take root in us and bring forth fruit that nourishes those who hunger for freedom. Amen (Commonprayer.net)

Memory Verse; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God  Romans 3:23

Matthew 3-4:11, Ps 130

I do not call the Law an ‘Old Testament’ if I understand it in the Spirit. The Law becomes an ‘Old Testament’ only for those who wish to understand it carnally, but for those who understand it and apply it in the Spirit and in the Gospel sense, the Law is ever new and the two Testaments are a new Testament for us, not because of their date in time but because of the newness of the meaning. For those who do not respect the covenant of love, even the Gospels are ‘old.’ Origen of Alexandria

Help us, Lord, to see in your Scripture the good news that never grows old. Amen. (Commonprayer.net)

Matthew 1-2, Ps 129

The greatest honor we can give Almighty God is to live gladly, because of the knowledge of His love. Julian of Norwich

Jesus, we believe in your kingdom coming. Even amid pain and despair, we believe that with each brave prophet with each unknown disciple who stretches her arm as a bridge between a broken world and a holy kingdom you are laying another brick for the New Jerusalem. Amen. (Commonprayer.net)
