Catch-up-day. Psalms 135

"[Love] is a verb. It’s an active engagement with all kinds of feelings—positive ones and primitive ones and loathsome ones. But it’s a very active verb. And it’s often surprising how it can kind of ebb and flow. It’s like the moon. We think it’s disappeared, and suddenly it shows up again. It’s not a permanent state of enthusiasm." Love is Not a Permanent State of Enthusiasm: An Interview with Esther Perel

Jesus, thank You for giving us love. In this world today, we have put a lot of action in love and we have put a lot of action in hate. This morning You give us a reminder that the difference between love and hate is, only LOVE is a noun and a verb. The enemy of this world has taken hate and reversed its meaning to strengthen his goal of destruction. Hate means to detest, to have extreme dislike...You Jesus, have placed a strong feeling of this towards the suffering, that the enemy has placed on Your creation. You have given us wisdom to know. we are not to hate ANY person, but to Love a person always. Today in a time where abuse is happening, please keep us steadfast in prayer, for Your Love to flood our beings, and we pray that we remain focused on hate is an act against an action not a person. One day Jesus, You end this world of the tainting of Your Word. You are LOVE and You LOVE; Amen. (prayerscross)

Memory Verse Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Joshua 24 Psalms 133

God may send you, dear friends, some costly packages. Do not worry if they are done up in rough wrappings. You may be sure there are treasures of love, and kindness, and wisdom hidden within. If we take what He sends, and trust Him for the goodness in it, even in the dark, we shall learn the meaning of the secrets of Providence.-A. B. Simpson

You hear our prayers whether they are full of thanksgiving or full of complaints. Your mercy is unending. Even in your discipline you restrain yourself in ways we cannot know. May our mumbled words of gratitude and our fleeting praises find crevices where they can grow within your presence, Lord of light and morning. Amen. (commonprayer.net)

Daily Dose For May 12

Memory Verse Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!” Ruth 1:16,17 NLT

Joshua 22-23 Psalms 132

"I find afflictions to be good for me. I have always found them so. Afflictions are happy means in the hands of the Holy Spirit to subdue my corruptions, my pride, my evil passions, my inordinate love to the creature. Afflictions soften my hard heart, bring me to my knees, increase faith, increase love, increase humility, increase self-denial. Afflictions make me poor in spirit, and nothing in my own eyes." John Angell James The Widow Directed to the Widow's God, 1841.

God, you call us to walk alongside the poor, all the while reminding us of our own poverty in spirit. Grant us courage to cry out against injustice. Grant us burdened hearts that ache to see the enemies of hunger, violence, and economic injustice scattered. (commonprayer.net)
