Holy Spirit Self Study Guide 4

Monday
Pastor Roger uses the illustration of a combo sandwich to show how salvation was viewed in the New Testament.  What does he mean by a combo Sandwich?  Except for a few cases, in the NT were there little time gap between the time someone believed, repented or was baptized?  Give some scripture references.

Tuesday
Read Mark 16:15-20

In Verse 16 would you leave out either belief or baptism, in God’s great gift of a savior?
Verse 16b when it says  but whoever does not believe will be condemned is it ignoring baptism or is it implied that baptism is included?

What is the purpose of the signs that accompany those that believe?

Wednesday
Prayerfully Read  Luke 24:36-53

There is no mention in these verses of Belief or Baptism only of repentance.  So is repentance all that is required to be saved?

In verse 49 How is the Holy Spirit Referred to?

Is there any commonality between Mark 16 and Luke 24?

Thursday
What Does the Bible Say we must do to be Saved?
Acts 2:21?
Acts 16:30,31 ?
Romans 10:9,10?
1 Corinthians 15:2
Ephesians 2:8-10

Friday
What Does the Bible Say we must do to be Saved?
2 Thessalonians 2:10
1 Timothy 2:15
Titus 3:5
Hebrews 10:39
1 Peter 3:19-21

Saturday
Prayerfully Study Titus 3:3- 8

Who is the kindness and love of God?

If Baptism is work, who’s work is it verse 5?

What does the Holy Spirit do for us at baptism into Christ?

Sunday

After this weeks study, can you see our response to God’s gift of a savior is more like a combo sandwich than a side order?

What ingredients is man likely to neglect out of God’s sandwich of salvation?

Is Belief, Repentant, confession or baptism more important than any other response?

It is poor use of scripture to include a response of baptism in Mark 16:16 to salvation and withdraw baptism because it is not mentioned in Luke 24.  Why would I say this?  What are some scriptures for reference?

Holy Spirit Self Study 3

Holy Spirit Self Study 3
Monday

What Value to you is the gift of the Holy Spirit?
John 7:38,39; Rom. 8:12-17; Rom. 14:17

The Christian is commanded to:
(1)          “Walk by the Spirit.” Gal. 5:16; 25.
(2)          “Quench not the Spirit.” I Thess. 5:19.
(3)          “Grieve not the Holy Spirit.” Eph. 4:30.

Tuesday
If we are not “born of the Spirit” (John 3:5) we are not born again.
If we “Have not the Spirit of Christ we are none of His.”  Romans 8:9,10.

At the same time we were washed in the bath of regeneration we were renewed by the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5.

Are these mere theological expressions or a personal reality? Please discuss.

If our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (and they are, read I Cot. 6:19,20), how shall we know this to be true?  What shall we do about it?

Wednesday
Were there People who had the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, without miraculous manifestations?
Give Scripture references

When and How does God give us the gift of the Holy Spirit?  (See Act’s 2:38 then find at least one more to prove your point)

Thursday
Where does the Holy Spirit live? Please give  Scriptures to prove your answer.

How is it possible for the Holy Spirit to dwell in more than one place at a time?  Is this a contradiction of the nature of the Holy Spirit?

Friday
Explain in your own words how the word of God produces a “begetting.” Cf. I Pet. 1:23; Luke 8:4-8; James 1:18.

Specify two ways in which we might grieve the Holy Spirit. Cf. Eph. 4:30

Saturday
Read John 3:1-21 Write down all the roles the Holy Spirit plays in our Salvation.  Write down all the character traits of the Holy spirit.

Sunday
Read Acts 8:1-25  What does this passage teach us about the Holy Spirit?
