Nahum, Ps 114

What we do now echoes in eternity. Marcus Aurelius

O Lord, may I walk in the way of life today, faithful to what you have entrusted to me for this day, no more and no less. Let me not become anxious over the things that I cannot control but instead receive your grace to face these things peacefully. In your name, I pray. Amen.  W. David O. Taylor

The Daily Dose of God April 30

Memory Verse; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV

Catch up day, Ps 113

The "Christ mystery " is much bigger than as an organized religion.  If we don't understand this, Christians will have little ability to make friends with, build bridges to, understand, or respect other religions or the planet.  Jesus did not come to create a country club or a tribe of people who could say; "Were in, and you're out. We've got the truth and you don't"  Jesus came to reveal something that was true everywhere, for everyone, and all the time.  Richard Rohr

Lord, we thank you for our brokenness because it makes us depend on you. Yet you are continually remaking us into a new creation. Keep us from false humilities and help us to reflect back to one another what it means to be created in your image. Amen.(commonprayer.net)

Micah 6-7, Ps 112

People who believe in war leave all behind, prepared to die: what price are we prepared to pay to be a -people who believe in peace? Those who keep faith to the end will know their weakness the best. God, grant me the courage; help me, that I may plant seeds of peace. Jim Wallis

We profess to be -people of peace, Lord, but keep us from the temptation to proclaim peace when there is no peace. Show us today where peace is most needed in our community and in our world. Show us which of us must plant the seeds of peace, which of us must water them, and which of us must yet become gardeners of your peace. Amen. (commonprayer.net)

Micah 4-5, Ps 111

Art at its best draws attention not only to the way things are but also to the way things will be when the earth is filled with the knowledge of G-D as the waters cover the sea. That remains a surprising hope, and perhaps it will be the artists who are best at conveying both the hope and the surprise.  N.T. Wright, Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church

Lord, I bring the poverty of my soul to be transformed by your beauty; the wildness of my passions to be tamed by your love; the stubbornness of my will to be conformed by your commandments and the yearnings of my heart to be renewed by your grace; both now and forevermore.  Amen.  Catherine of Genoa

We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men. Herman Melville

Lord, help us to see that our well-being is inextricably bound to the well-being of our neighbor. Our sorrows are shared. Our longings are shared. Our fears are shared. Enable us also to share compassion, patience, and courage today. Amen. (commonprayer.net)

Memory Verse; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV

Obadiah, Ps 108

I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know what it's like to feel absolutely worthless and they don't want anyone else to feel like that. Robin Williams

Father in Heaven, When we consider the humility of Christ becoming flesh and dwelling among us, His Spirit compels is to follow Him. Give us humility to accept Your love and forgiveness and freely give it. Give us humility to speak truth without exaggeration or understatement. In humility may we prefer others and not think more highly of ourselves than we ought. And in humility may we confess Christ without shame, giving due honor to Him, for He is unashamed of all who humbly confess Him. To Christ be the Kingdom and the power and the glory, amen. Adah Hutchcraft
