Daily Dose of God's Word For September 21st

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-21

Have you ever seen a person who was receiving a blood transfusion? The blood was precious, life-giving, and certainly not repulsive. The blood of Christ may seem to be a grim and repulsive subject . . .[but] the blood of Christ is precious.” ― Billy Graham, Billy Graham in Quotes

Memory Verse: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

John 6:41-59

Bread of Life? Jesus lived up to the title. But an unopened loaf does a person no good. Have you received the bread? Have you received God's forgiveness? Max Lucado

Pray

Praise you Jesus, bread of life, the sustainer and giver of all that is good, create a hunger in our soul for bread of life.  Amen

Daily Dose of God's Word For September 20th

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-20

Have you ever seen a person who was receiving a blood transfusion? The blood was precious, life-giving, and certainly not repulsive. The blood of Christ may seem to be a grim and repulsive subject . . .[but] the blood of Christ is precious.” ― Billy Graham, Billy Graham in Quotes

Memory Verse: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

Leviticus 17

The Jews took this prohibition against drinking blood seriously, and that is why Jesus’ hearers were so upset when Jesus told them to drink his blood (John 6:53-56). However, Jesus, as God himself and the last sacrifice ever needed for sins, was asking believers to identify with him completely. He wants us to take his life into us, and he wants to participate in our lives as well.

Pray

Praise to the Creator of all life, the blood is the creatures life.

Thankful for the Son, who offered His blood as atonement for our sin.
Spirit, guide me that my prayers may be a pleasing aroma to you.  Amen

Daily Dose of God's Word For September 19th

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-19

Have you ever seen a person who was receiving a blood transfusion? The blood was precious, life-giving, and certainly not repulsive. The blood of Christ may seem to be a grim and repulsive subject . . .[but] the blood of Christ is precious.” ― Billy Graham, Billy Graham in Quotes

Memory Verse: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

Hebrews 9:11-28

Though you know Christ, you may believe that you have to work hard to make yourself good enough for God. But rules and rituals have never cleansed people’s hearts. By Jesus’ blood alone (1) we have our consciences cleansed, (2) we are freed from death’s sting and can live to serve God, and (3) we are freed from sin’s power. If you are carrying a load of guilt because you are finding that you can’t be good enough for God, take another look at Jesus’ death and what it means for you. Christ can heal your conscience and deliver you from the frustration of trying to earn God’s favor. Bring your guilt-ridden life to Christ, confess your inability to clean up your own conscience, ask him to forgive you. Thank him for his deliverance. God can forgive you and clear your record.

Pray

Praise be to the anointed One, who's blood thoroughly cleanses us, so we are now free to serve the Living God, in power.  Amen

Daily Dose of God's Word For September 18th

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-18

Have you ever seen a person who was receiving a blood transfusion? The blood was precious, life-giving, and certainly not repulsive. The blood of Christ may seem to be a grim and repulsive subject . . .[but] the blood of Christ is precious.” ― Billy Graham, Billy Graham in Quotes

Memory Verse: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

Exodus 12:1-30

At the end of the plagues in the book of Exodus, the Israelites were told to kill an unblemished lamb and put the blood of it on their doorposts, so that the spirit of God would literally pass over (where they get Passover from) the houses and spare them from death. Once again, the color (blood is red…just a reminder!) has two meanings: death, because the lamb shed its blood, but also redemption because it spared those who had it on their doorposts.

Pray

Lord Jesus, we praise the Lamb that was slain but is now alive and powerful.  We are thankful for the unblemished Lamb, that allows death to pass us by.  Let, us join You in Your quest to redeem all mankind by shedding our blood, sweat, and tears to ensure all know the unblemished Lamb, who takes away the sin of the world.  Amen REM

Daily Dose of God's Word For September 17th

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-17

My friend Don Cole is 93 and evidence that the old dog, is never too old to learn a new trick.  Visiting him, he told me about how his family took him to the Flying W Ranch church, and how the preacher's sermon was all about blood.  Then Don said; "I did not know the bible taught so much about the blood, and I want to know more.  So, Don, this weeks dose is for you.

Memory Verse: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

Joshua 2:1-21

This story is a part of the narrative with Rahab the harlot. Because she helped the Israelite spies, they told her she and her family could be spared, so long as they put a scarlet cord out of the window to signify that they are not to be hurt. Oddly enough, even though the Bible can use scarlet, red, or crimson as colors that symbolize sin, it is often the symbol that saves.

Pray  Lord, we weep with those who weep and refuse to be consoled. May our tears mix with yours in a river of justice, flowing down like mighty waters, transforming the world that is into the one that ought to be. Amen.

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-16

Memory Verse: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

Isaiah 1:1-18

Don’t be confused at the use of “red” and “scarlet” in this verse. This is a case of the Bible emphasizing something by repeating it in a different way. This passage is saying that God has the ability to take sins and purify them. Notice that the color red (or scarlet) is used to describe sin. This repeats a number of times throughout the Bible, pointing to the fact that “red” is often synonymous with sin—and it must be cleansed.  https://www.patheos.com/blogs/christiancrier/2014/11/03/what-does-the-color-red-mean-or-symbolize-in-the-bible/

Pray

Lord -Jesus, you taught us to pray. Now help us pray for our daily bread while laboring with love for those who hunger. Show us how to hallow your name while striving for justice in our relationships and in society. May our whole lives become a prayer, ever to your glory. Amen. http://commonprayer.net

Daily Dose of God's Word For 9-15

The Book of Jude

Pray

Lord, help us see that prison takes many forms in all nations, from the steel bars of injustice and unforgiveness to the open fields of consumerism and spirit-killing entertainment. Equip us by your Spirit’s power to free one another from the various prisons in which we find ourselves. Amen.
