Daily Dose of God February 1

Memory Verse; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Jeremiah 34,35, Psalms 25

The widespread substitution of mental strain for physical stain is no advantage from our point of view.  Proper physical work, even if strenuous, does not absorb a great deal of the power of attention, but mental work does; so that there is no attention left over for the spiritual things that really matter.  It is obviously much easier for a hard-working peasant to keep his mind attuned to the divine than for a strained office worker.  E. F. Schumacher

Grant me, I beg you, almighty and merciful God, fervently to desire, wisely to search out, truly to acknowledge, and perfectly to fulfill, all that is well-pleasing to you. Order my worldly condition to the honor and glory of your name; and of all that you require me to do, grant me the knowledge, the desire, and the ability, that I may so fulfill it as I ought, and as is expedient for the welfare of my soul.

Amen. (Thomas Aquinas)
