COMMUNION DEVOTION

Snippet

For some, the service of communion is a sleepy hour in which wafers are eaten, juice is taken and the soul never stirs. It wasn't intended to be as such.

In Matthew's account of the Last Supper, one incredible truth surfaces. Jesus is the person behind it all.  He selected the place, designated the time, and set the meal in order. And at the Supper, Jesus is not the served, but the servant. It is Jesus who put on the garb of a servant and washed the disciples' feet. Jesus is not portrayed as the one who reclines and receives, but as the one who stands and gives.

He still does. The Lord's Supper is a gift to you. The Lord's Supper is a holy invitation. A sacred sacrament bidding you to leave the chores of life and enter his splendor. He meets you at the table. http://www.crossmap.com/devotionals/max-lucados-devotion-the-lords-supper-is-a-holy-invitation-16294
Scripture

And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, 28 for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant[d] between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.  Mark my words—I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father’s Kingdom.” Matthew 26:27-29 NLT

Verse 1
Let’s have a meal
Let me reveal who I am
I’m your Savior
I will kneel down
and wash all the sin from your soul
I’m your servant
I am all you need

Chorus
I’m the lamb that was slain
and my blood washes you clean
I’m the pure sacrifice
Let my life give you life
I’m the lamb

Verse 2
I am the bread
Given for every man
I sustain you
Drink from the cup
It is my blood shed for all
I’m redemption
I am all you need
I am everything

Bridge
We cry worthy
We cry worthy
We cry worthy
Is the lamb of God

Chorus 2
You’re the lamb that was slain
And your blood washes us clean
You’re the pure sacrifice
Let your life give us life
You’re the lamb

Sentence Prayer

I come to your table. Your painful sacrifice is on my mind. I look at the communion cracker. I see piercing. I see bruising. I see the brutality of the punishment that you endured for me. I see your everlasting love.

I gaze at the blood of redemption. I see your crimson mercy shimmering in this cup. I see your life being poured out for me.

May this great blessing create a grateful heart that is willing to give all for Your love.  Amen!
