TEMPTATION

Snippet

“Da mihi castitatem et continentiam, sed noli modo (Give me chastity and continence, but not just yet)!” ― Augustine of Hippo, Confessions

Scripture

Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life.
 Don’t let anyone under pressure to give in to evil say, “God is trying to trip me up.” God is impervious to evil, and puts evil in no one’s way. The temptation to give in to evil comes from us and only us. We have no one to blame but the leering, seducing flare-up of our own lust. Lust gets pregnant, and has a baby: sin! Sin grows up to adulthood, and becomes a real killer.  James 1:12-15 Message

Song  I FEEL A SIN COMING ON

I feel a sin comin' on
I feel a right that's about to go wrong
I got a shiver down to the bone
I feel a sin comin' on
I gotta buzz in my brain
Drunk on a love goin' down like champagne
I got a feelin' it's gonna leave a lipstick stain
And I'd be the only one to blame
And you can see it
All over my face
Sweet temptation
All over the place
Give me tall dark and handsome,
Mix it up with something strong
I feel a sin (I feel a sin) comin' on
Please Jesus don't hold me back
I know it ain't mine but I want it so bad
The smoke in the whiskey
Got me feeling easy
And after I'll fade in the glass
And you can see it
All over my face
Sweet temptation
All over the place
Give me tall dark and handsome,
Mix it up with something strong
I feel a sin (I feel a sin) comin' on

And you can see it (and you can see it)
All over my face (all over my face)
Sweet temptation
All over the place
Give me tall dark and handsome,
Mix it up with something strong
I feel a sin (I feel a sin) comin' on
I feel a sin (I feel a sin) comin' on

Sentence Prayer

Parent of us all,
we know your promise of love is waiting;
we understand the Holy Spirit is your gift to all;
we hear the message of Christ’s sacrifice.
Yet, like willful children,
we need the loving arms of our Mother
to gather us into her arms when we disobey;
to teach us once again
that we have fallen short
of her expectations.
We try to repent.
We try to change our minds,
to change our lives.
Help us believe once again,
through your love and forgiveness,
that we may see Christ
in those around us and before us.
