“Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me;
I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.” ―
Scripture
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s
friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer
call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s
business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I
learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did
not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you
might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever
you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my
command: Love each other. John 15:12-17 NIV

What Susan Said Rich Mullins
http://youtu.be/CUEM2sFnGg4
Two lonely-eyed boys in a pick-up truck
And they're drivin' through the rain and the heat
And their skin's so sweaty they both get stuck
To the old black vinyl seats
And it's Abbott and Costello meet Paul and Silas
It's the two of us together and we're puttin' on the mileage
And we both feel lost
But I remember what Susan said
How love is found in the things we've given up
More than in the things that we have kept
And ain't it funny what people say
And ain't it funny what people write
And ain't it funny how it hits you so hard
In the middle of the night
And if your home is just another place where you're a stranger
And far away is just somewhere you've never been
I hope that you'll remember, I was your friend
Two full grown men in a huddle of kids
And they're trying to help them to believe
What is too good to be real
But is more real than the air they breathe
And it's Wally and the Beaver, David and Jonathan
It's the Love of Jesus puttin' on flesh and bone
And we both feel lost
But I remember what Susan said
How love is found in the things we've given up
More than in the things that we have kept
And ain't it funny what people say
And ain't it funny what people write
And ain't it funny how it hits you so hard
In the middle of the night
And I remember what Susan said
Sentence Prayer
Lord, I’m Your follower, but also your friend. Help me see more
clearly how to be a good friend by doing what you ask of me. My
life is a gift from you, and I want to invest it to the best of my
ability in doing the work to work you have called me.
I thank You that your commands are not constraining but freeing.
In friendship with you, and in obedience to you, I find true joy.
Lord Jesus, I thank you for inviting me to be Your friend. Amen
