Snippet
Holy
Saturday: Rest well, indeed. For tomorrow there is work to be done and a grave
to be conquered.
Scripture
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;[b]
his
mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is
your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore
I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24 ESV
The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The Savior of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse was broken
One final breath He gave
As Heaven looked away
The Son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken
The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated
Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive
Sentence Prayer
Grant Lord, That we who are baptized into the death
of your son our Savior Jesus Christ may continually put to death our evil
desires and to be buried with him; and that through the grave and gate of death
we may pass to our Joyful resurrection through His merits who died and was
buried and rose again for us, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord Amen
