Snippet
The dead are never far from us. They're in our hearts and on
our minds and in the end all that separates us from them is a single breath,
one final puff of air.” ― William Kent Krueger, Ordinary Grace
Scripture
Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the
field.”[d] While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and
killed him. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”“I don’t
know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” The Lord said, “What have you
done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. 11 Now you
are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive
your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no
longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”
Genesis 4:8-12

In The Ghetto By Elvis Presley

As the snow flies
On a cold and gray Chicago mornin'
A poor little baby child is born
In the ghetto
And his mama cries
'cause if there's one thing that she don't need
it's another hungry mouth to feed
In the ghetto
People, don't you understand
the child needs a helping hand
or he'll grow to be an angry young man some day
Take a look at you and me,
are we too blind to see,
do we simply turn our heads
and look the other way
Well the world turns
and a hungry little boy with a runny nose
plays in the street as the cold wind blows
In the ghetto
And his hunger burns
so he starts to roam the streets at night
and he learns how to steal
and he learns how to fight
In the ghetto
Then one night in desperation
a young man breaks away
He buys a gun, steals a car,
tries to run, but he don't get far
And his mama cries
As a crowd gathers 'round an angry young man
face down on the street with a gun in his hand
In the ghetto
As her young man dies,
on a cold and gray Chicago mornin',
another little baby child is born
In the ghetto
Sentence Prayer
Father;
You have made all of mankind into your image
Forgive me for my brothers blood cries out
For, my indifference, my apathy and my zealous hatred
Of your children.
In your Son Jesus may their finally be peace and redemption.
Amen
